Two More FEIA Girls Win NCAA Cage Scholarships

By Michael Clarkson

Nina Visnjevac and Danyelle London are the latest of the Lady Falcons basketball squad to win scholarships to NCAA Division I universities in the United States.

Nina, who helped the Falcons to another successful season in 2025-26, has committed to American University in Washington, D.C. She also had an offer from the University of Detroit Mercy.

Her one-year scholarship, she says, is worth $86,000 and, as with other players, such a scholarship is re-evaluated after each season.

Nina, who studied math and sciences at FEIA, hopes to play pro ball eventually in Europe, and possibly for Canada or Serbia. “I had a chance to play for Serbia but I couldn’t get a passport in time,” she said.

A 5-9 guard, Nina played for Team Ontario last summer.

“I think my strength is shooting and I’m growing as a point guard,” she said. “I do need better court vision.”

For Grade 9, Nina went to Bill Crothers Secondary School in Markham. She attended FEIA starting in Grade 10 in 2023-24. That year, she also played AAU Under-15 ball for FEIA coach Handel Kipp.

At American, Nina says she wants to make an impact right away, especially in a leadership role for the Eagles. She begins basketball training in D.C. on June 24.

London was a solid point guard for the Falcons in league and Grind Session action. She was originally accepted by Niagara (N.Y.) University, but when its coach was fired, she took a scholarship with the University of Illinois Chicago.

“She comes to us from a top Ontario team that consistently plays a high caliber schedule,” said UIC coach Ashleen Bracey. “She has competed with and against several Division I (caliber) players throughout her career. She is a true floor general and natural-born leader.”

In her senior year at FEIA, London averaged seven points, six assists, four steals and three rebounds per game.

Kipp said he was proud of Nina and Danyelle, “who worked hard and deserve what they have achieved.”

Two other FEIA grads made immediate impressions this season in NCAA action.

At Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, Maya Foz won Freshman of the Year in the Missouri Valley Conference, averaging 14.4 points per game to rank her 11th in the United States in freshman scoring. She is from Mississauga.

Bradley coach Kate Popovec was impressed by Maya’s competitive spark: “She has a dog mentality. Maya hates to lose more than she likes to win.”

After the season, Maya transferred to Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. Her sister, Keana Foz, also transferred to Grand Canyon from Wagner University, where she averaged 9.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 2025-26 and made Northeast Conference all-defensive team.

Guard-forward Cearah Parchment, of Whitby, made the prestigious Big 10 All-Freshman team with 13.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini.

She has played well for Team Canada.

“The sky’s the limit for Cearah,” said Illinois coach Shauna Green. “She is a very versatile player with great size and length. And very coachable.”
