Productive Off Season Signings for the Senior Falcons

 By Michael Clarkson

The FEIA senior boys’ Falcons have signed four blue-chip performers as they prepare to defend their Ontario basketball championship.

After losing national MVP Eli Jolin and Ontario tournament MVP Promis N’Landu to graduation, head coach Kemy Osse and his assistants had to recruit in the off season, and they have.

Committed for 2026-27 are Grady Kapuanya of Montreal, K’Vontae Walters of Toronto, Nolan Diba of Ottawa and Athian Madut of Brooks, Alta.

The 6-8 forward Madut is an explosive rim protector, who teamed up with his second cousin, current FEIA star Deng Ngor, to help Team Alberta win the gold medal at the 2025 Canada Games. He played last season for Western Canada Prep.

Madut is coming to FEIA for his final high school year because “they play the best competition with the goals I have. This is where I want to be. I feel like it’s the best place to prepare for the next level and compete for championships.”

He knows that playing against the best teams in North America forces him to adjust and gives him confidence. “I define impact as dominating the gray areas - rebounding, diving on the floor, sprinting the floor, being on time in actions – that’s what decides games. Putting pressure on the rim changes everything. When all eyes are on me, it makes reads easier for everybody.”

Diba is a 6-4 point guard in his final year who played last campaign for Thetford Mines Academy in Quebec. He says, “I am not the biggest, strongest and fastest but I work hard to outwork those that are the most talented. I am not afraid, and I believe in myself.” To coaches Osse, Steve Houston and Darnell Landon, he promises that “you will never regret the day you took a chance on me. I am extremely vocal and take a leadership role through my communication and actions. All of my life I always worked my way up to the position I wanted to be in. I have learned to not feel entitled to anything to no matter the circumstances I am in.”

Like the other three, the younger Walters, who graduates in 2029, is a future NCAA prospect. He was with Toronto’s Crestwood Prep last year. He plays with this mindset: “Built for noise. Echo what you do here

When discussing his gameplay, Walters focuses on overall effort and team success, stating: “At the end of the day, do what is best for you and your loved ones.” He says that FEIA reflects his “different mentality and different work ethic.” And he plays with the mindset that he is “built for noise. Echoing what you do echoes everywhere.”

The 6-9 power forward Kapuanya, who graduates in 2028, has played for Team Quebec and averaged 5.5 points per game for Team Canada’s Under-17 squad in the 2026 World Cup. Like Diba, he plays in the off season in AAU ball for Brookwood Lu Dort Elite. Scouts say he has an intriguing blend of size and skill.

Houston is excited and says that Falcon coaches are “thrilled to have these young men join our program and help lift us to new heights. They will all have a big impact on what we do from Day 1.”

Veterans expected to return to the Falcons include superstar Ngor, Junior Jean Marie, Pierre Charles Yimga, Jakob Wolker, Totu Akuentok and Gael Bilodeau.
