Parchment Joins Miller as a Senior National Team Contributor

Cearah Parchment became the latest FEIA grad to make a difference with a Canadian senior national basketball team.
Parchment scored eight points and had three rebounds, including 2-of-4 three-point shots, as Canada defeated host Mexico 83-53 in the finals of the FIBA Women’s Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament on Aug. 23.
This past July, FEIA grad Leonard Miller became a starter on the Canadian men’s senior team, which registered a perfect 6-0 record in its Olympic qualifying tournament in Hamilton.
A 2025 grad of FEIA, Parchment this past season made the prestigious Big 10 All-Freshman team with 13.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini.
“Cearah’s always been a special player at every level,” said FEIA women’s coach Handel Kipp.
“The sky’s the limit for Cearah,” said Illinois coach Shauna Green. “She is a very versatile player with great size and length. And very coachable.” She made an impact coming off the bench for Canada.
The Canadian women went 5-0 in the tourney, with other wins over Mexico, Senegal, Philippines and New Zealand, as they took one step closer to qualifying for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Parchment is from Whitby, Ont.
The 22-year-old Miller scored 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting as Canada beat Jamaica 116-77 on July 6 and also had six points in their 110-84 victory over Puerto Rico.
Over the winter, the 6-10 forward with a 7-2 wingspan, earned a starting position with the Chicago Bulls after spending much of his three NBA seasons on the bench with two other teams. As a starter in his last five games, he averaged 17.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
Miller, a Scarborough native, led the FEIA Falcons to the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association provincial championship in 2021-22. Turning down scholarship offers from 25 colleges, he was drafted right out of FEIA into the 2023 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs. He was traded to Minnesota and then to the Bulls.
“He’s very active on the glass, a good runner and transition and he’s very active cutting and moving,” said Bulls coach Billy Donovan. “In a short period of time of getting the opportunity to play, he’s taking full advantage of it.”
