FEIA Deepens Community Roots Through Optimist Club

Fort Erie International Academy (FEIA) continues to strengthen its connection with the local community through a growing partnership with the Fort Erie Optimist Club.

Focused on youth empowerment, the Optimist Club has welcomed FEIA students into a variety of volunteer initiatives—including community clean-ups, fundraising events, and mentorship programs—showcasing its commitment to “the kids come first” (forterieobserver.ca).

The collaboration offers students meaningful ways to engage beyond the classroom, builds leadership skills, and fosters civic responsibility. For more details, check out the full Observer article “Fort Erie Optimist Club is for the Community, But the Kids Come First”.

By working alongside the Optimist Club—a community cornerstone since 1975—FEIA reinforces its commitment to holistic education rooted in real-world impact (forterieobserver.ca). As students take on active roles in planning and supporting community events, they form strong connections with residents, local leaders, and peers. These shared experiences continue to build pride and purpose in both school and town, underscoring FEIA’s belief that education is not only about academics, but also about growing responsible, community-minded citizens.
